Moraes Moreira (1975), had already been released on CD in Japan, but was unpublished in Brazil in the format. It is a rock music record, a new Bahian whose repertoire - not as inspired as the composer’s later songbook - includes leftovers from Moraes’s partnership with Galvão (My grandfather’s Slipper and Anda, Nega). Aligned with the spirit of the record, the re-recording of rock ’“Se você pensa”“ (Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos, 1968) stands out in a repertoire that highlighted the song ” Bahian Guitar “ (Moraes Moreira), propagated in the soundtrack of novel Gabriela (TV Globo, 1975) in different register….~
In 1974, Moraes Moreira left the group Novos Baianos. Without the group that gave him projection from 1969, the natural way was to follow in the music in solo career. So much so that in 1975, the singer, composer and musician from Bahia already presented the first solo album, entitled Moraes Moreira and released by the record company Som Livre. It is this album that won a single edition on CD, expected to arrive in stores in the first half of April in packaging made in digipack format
The album Moraes Moreira was unpublished in CD in Brazil until 2014, when it was reedited in the box titled Moraes Moreira - Years 70. Only until then it never left of a unique form in CD in Brazil, as it had already happened in Japan before the edition of the box .
If analyzed in perspective in the work of the composer, the repertoire of the album Moraes Moreira is not one of the most inspired of the solo discography of the artist, but already delineates the construction of musical universe that would reach peak of inspiration in the album of 1979.
Seven of the 12 songs on the 1975 record are signed by Moreira only. Among them, there is Rain in the marsh, Of the sound, Always singing, Guitar bahiana - included in the soundtrack of the novel Gabriela (TV Globo, 1975) in record different from the recording of this disc - and Violão vagabundo. They complete the repertoire two leftovers from Moreira’s partnership with the new baiano Luiz Galvão, Anda denies and my grandfather’s Slipper, in addition to re-recording in a more rocky tone of If you think (Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos, 1968).
The most unusual touch of this repertoire is PS, because it is a bisexual partnership of Moreira and Galvão with none other than Luiz Gonzaga (1912 - 1989), eternal king of the baião….by…Mauro Ferreira…~
"One of those responsible for the propagation of the street carnival in Salvador, the singer and composer Moraes Moreira is among the great personalities of Brazilian music, after being nationally known as a member of the New Baianos, he leaves the group and goes on a solo career. the new phase of his career in 1975, with the release of his first album of the same name. This album returns to stores this year on vinyl by Polysom’s "Clássicos em Vinil” collection.
The album includes 12 tracks, most of them by Moraes Moreira, who also signs the arrangements with Armandinho. In some of the compositions he counted on his partner Luiz Galvão and the baião king, Luiz Gonzaga, on “PS”. He also presents a remake with a more rocky tone of “Se Você Pensa” by Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos. Among the songs are “Chuva no Brejo”, ““Guitarra Baiana” ” and “Do Som”.
Moraes was accompanied on the recordings by Armandinho (mandolin, guitar and baiana guitar), Dadi Carvalho (bass), Gustavo Schroeter (drums) and Mu Carvalho (piano), musicians who later formed the group A Cor do Som…..~
