Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces “Dedication Of Love” 1976 US mega rare killer..! Soul Funk masterpiece…!
full vk
OBSCURE SOUL GEM UNEARTHED BY THE TEAM AT JAZZMAN RECORDS! Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces scored big with their first album, 1965’s Searching for My Love. However, their follow up to that million selling record, Dedication Of Love, was a flop of untold proportions. So little copies of that record were sold that it is near impossible to find an original copy anywhere. It’s become a seriously collectible piece that the few copies that remain fetch upwards of $2000 on the used market. Thankfully Jazzman has come on the scene to right this wrong and offer up the first ever reissue of this funk, blues and soul filled album. The label was able to find Bobby Moore Jr. and this release includes extensive liner notes, an exclusive interview and previously unseen vintage photos of the band. It’s a great way to get in touch with the music of Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces….~
Much is said in the mainstream media about million-selling records, yet the opposite is true of the no-hitters - the obscurities that sold badly and which sank without a trace. This is the bittersweet experience of a hard-working soul band that experienced the elation of a million-selling chart-topper – but also the dejection of a self-released flop that sold so few copies that barely a handful can be traced to this day. The 1976 album ‘Dedication of Love ’ by Bobby Moore & the Rhythm Aces is that flop - and is known today in just a handful of copies, selling for up to $2000 on the highly-competitive rare soul market.
From our exclusive interviews with long-standing band member Bobby Moore Jr, our detailed liner notes tell the story of Bobby Moore & the Rhythm Aces from inception to present day. We present all the highs and lows that membership of a touring soul band can bring, and we publish some spectacular previously-unseen vintage photos for the very first time. We dig deep to find out just why this record was made, and ask why, despite such a wonderful array of heartfelt soul, street funk and downhome funky blues, it is such a coveted rarity today.
Part of the Jazzman Holy Grail Series. Limited numbered vinyl edition with insert, only 1000 pressed…..~
Robert “Bobby” Moore (July 17, 1930 – February 1, 2006) was a tenor saxophonist and bandleader. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and joined the US Army in his teens. While stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia in 1952, he formed the first line-up of the Rhythm Aces with members of the Fort Benning marching band; they toured the south playing at military events and clubs for a few years. When he moved to Montgomery, Alabama after being demobbed in 1961, Moore put together a new group, featuring his son, Larry Moore (saxophone), Chico Jenkins (vocals, guitar), Marion Sledge (guitar), Joe Frank (bass), Clifford Laws (keyboards), and John Baldwin, Jr. (drums). They did local Alabama gigs and played behind national touring acts such as Sam Cooke and Ray Charles.
In late 1965, they recorded a song written by Moore, “Searching For My Love”, at the FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The recording was heard by Leonard and Marshall Chess, who bought the rights to release it on their Checker label. The single hit #27 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, and #7 on the R&B chart, in 1966, and sold more than one million copies. A second single, “Try My Love Again”, just barely cracked the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #97,[3] and a third, “Chained to Your Heart”, released as a solo single by Bob Moore, also hit the R&B chart. In 1969, Checker released their last single, “Your Love and My Love Together”, and then released the group.
The Rhythm Aces continued to perform as a group in Alabama with a constantly shifting lineup into the 2000s. Bobby Moore died of kidney failure in Montgomery, Alabama, on February 1, 2006, and his son, Larry Moore, became the group’s leader. The Rhythm Aces are booked by Nashville based Crescent Moon Entertainment…wiki...~
